Celebrating 50 years of the April Revolution and Social Work

As part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of April 25, the Lisbon Higher Institute of Social Work of the Lusíada University of Lisbon invited the Historical Institutes of Social Work to join forces to bring to memory and debate testimonies and research on Social Work and the Carnation Revolution, bringing together researchers, teachers, students, alumni and professionals.
April 25, 1974 definitely marked Portuguese society and also represented an important milestone for Social Work in Portugal. Not only social workers but also schools of Social Work were actively involved in mobilizing workers and students for protests and demonstrations, helping to unify the popular movement against the authoritarian regime.
