ISMT hosted a public session for joint reflection on inclusion and diversity, promoted in partnership with APPACDM of Coimbra.
On 19 May, the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) hosted the third session of the debate cycle "Vamos falar de...". The event, structured as a public session, was dedicated to the theme of cerebral palsy, resulting from a partnership between ISMT and the Portuguese Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Disabled Citizens (APPACDM) of Coimbra.
The panel included Vânia Rosa, a Social Work lecturer at ISMT and technical director of AFSD - Centro Cavalo Azul, who presented the communication "Between Losses and Discoveries: Another Lens on Cerebral Palsy". This was followed by the intervention of Alda Matos, a lecturer at the Coimbra College of Education (ESEC) and vice-president of the Department of Education, Sport and Social Intervention, with the theme "Beyond Cerebral Palsy". The session was completed by Cristina Soutinho, technical director of the Coimbra Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation Centre (CRPCC) and board member of the Coimbra Cerebral Palsy Association (APCC), who addressed "The Challenge of Diversity".
The initiative invited a joint reflection on issues of inclusion and diversity, stimulating the dialogue on social intervention within the academic space. This meeting sought to bring together the entities involved, promoting the sharing of theoretical and practical perspectives with the student community and the general public.
