ISMT represented at the 6th Iberian Congress of Family Therapy

From 16 to 18 October, Porto hosted the 6th Iberian Congress of Family Therapy, organised by the FEATF – Federación Española de Asociaciones de Terapia Familiar and the SPTF – Sociedade Portuguesa de Terapia Familiar, under the theme “The richness of systemic family therapy: diversity and creativity”.

The event brought together leading professionals and researchers to discuss key topics such as new forms of bonding, relationship violence, prevention in child and youth mental health, and current challenges in couple therapy.

The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga was represented by Professor Joana Sequeira, faculty member and President of the Scientific Council, who participated in Round Table 11 — “The Art of Being a Systemic Therapist: New Paths and Challenges”, alongside Juan Miguel de Pablo and Maria Emanuel Moreira.

Her contribution focused on the art of accompanying from a systemic perspective, fostering a reflective dialogue on presence, listening, and creativity as essential tools for contemporary therapists.
