The student community of the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga took part in the initiative focused on inclusion and interculturality through sport and culture.

On the 6th of June, ISMT students participated in the 5th edition of Intercultural Surf for Kids. The event, held at Praia do Cabedelo in São Pedro, Figueira da Foz, provided a surfing baptism experience for children living in the municipality, promoting contact with the sea and active community integration. The initiative brought together children aged 5 to 10 and their guardians, originating from 15 nationalities.

The student community of the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga collaborated in the event's various activities, which involved a total of around 400 people and combined sport, art, music, and sustainability. As part of the gathering, parallel activities took place, such as the artistic workshop “Nadar ao Vento”, focused on reusing materials, musical moments of instrument discovery, and the “Ciclo Urbano da Água” action, promoted by the company Águas da Figueira. The cultural sharing aspect extended to gastronomy, with an international community lunch featuring typical dishes prepared by citizens of different origins and guest chefs.

Intercultural Surf for Kids, which is free of charge, is promoted by the Associação de Desenvolvimento Mais Surf and the Associação de Marketing e Promoção Turística, with the support of various local and national entities, a network that includes ISMT. The presence of the institution's students underlines the Institute's ongoing commitment to social inclusion practices and the development and cohesion of the Central region.
