The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga lecturer participated in the EDEN Porto AC 2026 international conference with a study on the use of Artificial Intelligence in the continuing professional development of teachers.
The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) was represented at the EDEN Porto AC 2026 international conference, which took place between the 14th and 16th of June at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto. The institution's presence materialised through the lecturer Mailing Méndez, who presented the scientific article entitled "Generative Artificial Intelligence in the Continuing Professional Development of Teachers of Spanish in Portugal".
The conference, under the theme "Beyond Technology: Human-AI Collaboration for Learning and Teaching", brought together researchers, lecturers, and institutional leaders from several countries. The debate focused on reflecting upon the impact and possibilities of collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence in teaching and learning processes. The presented research addresses the role of generative artificial intelligence in the professional development of Spanish teachers in Portugal, aiming to contribute to the discussion on the ethical and structured integration of these technologies in the educational context.
The lecturer's participation in this conference reflects ISMT's strategy regarding scientific research, pedagogical innovation, and the internationalisation of knowledge. Involvement in these types of meetings allows the analysis of the challenges of contemporary education to be integrated into the institution's teaching dynamics, sharing the generated knowledge with the academic community and the student community.
