As part of World Social Work Day, observed on 17 March and promoted by the International Federation of Social Workers, the Miguel Torga Higher Institute (ISMT) will host the lecture "Contemporary Families: Intergenerational Challenges and Social Work Intervention" on 16 March. The event will take place at 4:30 pm in Room 4 of the building at Rua Augusta, no. 46, Coimbra.

The initiative serves as a space for academic and scientific reflection on the issues affecting contemporary families throughout their life cycle. Through expert analysis, the event will address transformations in family structures and the technical responses required to deal with the complexity of modern social contexts, highlighting the importance of qualified social intervention.

The programme features a presentation by lecturer Mónica Teixeira, from Universidade Lusófona – Porto University Centre and a member of CLISSIS, entitled "Ageing, Family Dynamics, and Care Networks: Contemporary Challenges". ISMT lecturer Manuel Menezes will present "Childhood, Parenting, and Protection: The Family at the Heart of Social Intervention", focusing on intervention with children and families in vulnerable situations. The event is organised by the lecturers of the Contemporary Families and Social Intervention and Social Work Research curricular units of the Undergraduate Degree in Social Work.
