Instituto Superior Miguel Torga and Fundação Mata do Bussaco are preparing a cooperation protocol focused on family intervention and neuropsychology in natural environments.
On the 13th of July, a preparatory meeting was held at the ISMT headquarters to establish a partnership with Fundação Mata do Bussaco. The objective of this joint work is to promote scientific research and therapeutic innovation, utilising the natural spaces of the Bussaco National Forest.
The initiative combines the knowledge developed at the Institute with the surrounding natural heritage. The focus covers areas such as family intervention and neuropsychology, aiming to analyse the impact of nature on mental health, psychological well-being, family cohesion, and cognitive rehabilitation. This collaboration takes place within the context of the Bussaco Forest's certification process as the first Therapeutic Forest in the Iberian Peninsula.
The joint effort foresees the creation of applied research lines and the design of intervention programmes. It will also provide an opportunity for the ISMT student community and teaching staff to develop studies, dissertations, and practical internships. The model seeks to transfer the knowledge generated in academia to society, consolidating the Institute's commitment to creating sustained responses to contemporary challenges and promoting the appreciation of natural spaces as scientific and educational resources.
