The Coimbra School of ISMT organised a conference focused on institutional coordination and communication response in emergency situations, paving the way for future training actions in the region.

The Coimbra School of the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) held the conference "Emergency Communication in Catastrophe Contexts" on 28 May. The initiative was aimed at professionals from the Coimbra Metropolitan Area, bringing together stakeholders from various areas linked to crisis management and public communication, namely journalists, firefighters, municipal communication professionals, and civil protection technicians.

The event provided an opportunity to share perspectives on institutional coordination and operational response in emergency situations. The programme included contributions from José Veríssimo, Mayor of Montemor-o-Velho; Sérgio Soares, from Agência Lusa; Miguel Ângelo, from LP Visual (SIC); Andreia Rodrigues, Civil Protection Coordinator of Coimbra; and Nuno Seixas Pereira, 2nd Sub-Regional Commander of Emergency and Civil Protection for the Coimbra Region. The presentations ensured a plural approach, focusing on communication responsibility and coordination between entities in risk scenarios.

This conference marks the starting point for the development of an ongoing training cycle aimed at professionals in the region. With these actions, the Coimbra School of ISMT reaffirms its mission as a driver of qualification in the territory, bringing knowledge closer to professional practice and public service, for the benefit of community safety and well-being.
