The Miguel Torga Higher Institute (ISMT), in partnership with APPACDM Coimbra, launched the "Let’s talk about…" conversation cycle on April 14th. This initiative focuses on demystifying disability and presenting current social responses.

The Miguel Torga Higher Institute (ISMT), in partnership with APPACDM Coimbra, launched the "Let’s talk about…" conversation cycle on April 14th. This initiative focuses on demystifying disability and presenting current social responses.

The inaugural session addressed Intellectual Disability and featured Dulce Simões, Vice-President of the ISMT Board of Directors, who outlined the project's objectives. Professor Sandra Neves Henriques presented "Beyond labels: understanding Intellectual Developmental Disorder".

The panel also included António Martins, a psychologist from APPACDM Coimbra, with the presentation "Living with intellectual disability", and Helena Albuquerque, President of the organisation, who analysed existing societal responses for this population in Portugal.

The session cycle is based on testimonies and technical analysis of stigmas associated with disability. Running until June, the programme will involve collaboration with APPDA Coimbra, APCC, and ACAPO, with upcoming sessions dedicated to Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Visual Impairment.
