Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) hosted the inauguration ceremony of the new management of the Students' Union for the 2026-2027 term, led by Gonçalo Batista.

On 18 June 2026, the inauguration ceremony of the new governing bodies of the Students' Union (AE ISMT) took place at the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT). The event was attended by institutional representatives, namely the vice-presidents of the Board of Directors, Dulce Simões and Humberto Oliveira, the board member Miguel Fonseca, and the president of the Pedagogical Council, Ilda Massano Cardoso. The session was also attended by members of other students' unions from schools of the Polytechnic of Coimbra.

During the speeches, Humberto Oliveira highlighted the Board of Directors' perspective on AE ISMT, describing it as a partner in addressing the institution's challenges. He acknowledged the work of the outgoing management and called for the maintenance of an open dialogue with the new bodies, emphasising that union participation serves as a school of citizenship that complements the education of ISMT students. In turn, Ilda Massano Cardoso reinforced that the union holds seats on fundamental committees and that the students' voice is determinant for the improvement of teaching. She ensured the Pedagogical Council's availability for joint work based on proximity, requesting constant feedback from the student community to enable prompt responses.

The outgoing president, Rui Morais, who has now taken the role of president of the General Assembly Board, provided a retrospective of the projects carried out, attributing the results to his team's efforts. He expressed gratitude to the ISMT structures and confidence in the new management to continue defending academic interests. The new president of AE ISMT, Gonçalo Batista, shared his term's priorities during his speech, focusing on support for the integration of new students, school social action, and health and sports. Stating that the union "exists to serve the students, not to be served by them", he guaranteed that the headquarters will keep its doors open to suggestions and underlined the central principle that "there are no first or second-class students".

The new governing bodies of AE ISMT for 2026-2027 feature Gonçalo Batista as president of the Board, accompanied by vice-presidents Jéssica Arruda and Mariana Andrade, and a team of secretaries, a treasurer, an administrator, members, and collaborators distributed across various areas of intervention. The General Assembly Board is chaired by Rui Morais, with Luna Almeida and Luana Costa as secretaries, while the Supervisory Board is headed by Sofia Simões, with Mafalda Ferreira as secretary and Manuel Valadas as rapporteur.
