Meeting "Social Work in Perspective: International Scientific Cooperation and Knowledge Production at ISMT"
The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) is organising the meeting "Social Work in Perspective: International Scientific Cooperation and Knowledge Production at ISMT" on 1 June. The initiative, taking place in Room 2 of the Gomes Freire Building, gathers faculty, researchers, and the student community with the aim of analysing the dynamics of contemporary social intervention.
The opening session, scheduled for 15:30, features speeches by Manuel Castelo Branco, President of the ISMT Board of Directors, and Dulce Simões, Vice-President of the same body. The programme continues with the conference "From the recognition of rights to their implementation: the role of Social Work in contexts of inequality", delivered by Daniele da Silva Correia, social worker and post-doctoral researcher at the State University of Rio de Janeiro and ISMT. The event is moderated by Sónia Ribeiro.
Alongside the conference, the meeting includes the presentation of two recent publications. The book "Social Work: New(Old) Challenges" is introduced by its coordinators, Carla Carvalho and Helena Carvalho. This is followed by the presentation of "Family experiences during the cost of living crisis: children's perspectives on well-being", led by coordinator Manuel Menezes. Following a debate, the closing session will be conducted by Rosa Tomé and Fernanda Daniel, coordinators of the 1st and 2nd Cycles in Social Work at ISMT, respectively.
