LEARNING OUTCOMES
With this course the aim is to introduce communication systems. Aside from allowing simple communication between equipment, networks give support infrastructure to the integration of organization processes, creation of intranets and cooperation networks. Another objective of this course is to familiarize students with Linux, whether in a command line level or on an IP network configuration level, and some TCP/IP services.
1. Know the main components of communication systems;
2. Know the OSI TCP/IP protocol stacks;
3. Explain and apply the notions of addressing and routing in IP networks;
4. Know the LAN networks and Ethernet technology;
5. Know several types of access networks and how to apply that knowledge in several communication scenarios;
6. Design the configuration of a network according to a given scenario;
7. Work with agility using the Unix command line;
8. Know how to configure the main services in Linux.
