The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga lecturer completed her PhD exams with research on the emotion regulation of first responders through virtual reality.

Lecturer Soraia Oliveira from the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) completed her PhD exams in Psychology, in the field of Work, Organisational and Personnel Psychology, which took place on the 23rd of June at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra. The presented thesis was approved with distinction and praise, unanimously.

The research, entitled "Portuguese first responders' emotion regulation through virtual reality", was supervised by lecturers Carla Maria Santos de Carvalho, Ana Luísa Sousa Pinto, and Sonia Maria Guedes Gondim. The study focuses on the emotion regulation of firefighters and police officers, analysing the use of virtual reality as a tool to deal with the stress associated with these professions.

This study theme intersects directly with ISMT's areas of interest, reinforcing the institution's connection to the needs of professionals working in the field. The Board of Directors (Conselho de Direção do ISMT) and the academic community congratulate the lecturer on this stage in her journey. The result achieved reflects the focus on research and the continuous qualification of the Institute's teaching staff.
